Abstract

The motion of a rigid indenter in contact with elasto-plastic medium is investigated, when harmonic loading with ultrasound frequency is applied to the indenter. Medium response on indenter motion is modeled by including reactive and dissipative forces into indenter motion equation. The existence of stable periodic solutions for analyzed problem is proved. Nonlinear multiple-peak resonance is discovered. The results are suggested to be used as initial data in strain-stress analysis of medium based on substitution of real contact interaction between indenter and medium for equivalent virtual distributed load applied to contact surface.

Key words

rigid indenter, elasto-plastic medium, stable periodic solutions, nonlinear multiple-peak resonance.
